Style By Lucy: for the love of art

Where art lives in our interior world

The art in our Naples Condo (top left) becomes the centerpiece for this mod dining room.

George Bernard Shaw once said, “Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable.” While applicable in all its forms, today we’re mood boarding about the world of art in interiors and how it enhances the landscape of our designs.

We’re in love with the Holly Addi painting in our Bayside condo (top right).

It’s evident through our portfolio that art is an important part of our work. On occasion, it’s front and center. The featured element that pulls everything around it into perfect position. In other spaces, art plays a supporting role. One that enhances a room or completes a scene. It doesn’t need to be the star of the show, but without it, the view is unfinished. This is what makes art so adaptive in the interiors world. There will always be a place for it in the spaces we design.

Impressionist, modern, classicism, pop art, surrealism, avant garde, expressionism…the list goes on and on when it comes to art styles. And when it comes to choosing a specific style, it’s all very personal.

We love and welcome the opportunity to include existing artwork into a new landscape. On special occasions, we’re presented with family heirlooms or treasures that become works of art on their own. Whether it sets the tone from the very beginning or becomes the final touch that completes the look and feel, we will always find a special place for the artwork that fills the hearts of others.

Often times, we’re given the opportunity to bring artwork of our choosing into the mix. It’s exciting to dig into our design minds to find the perfect piece for that perfect space. A painting or print. A sculpture or unique piece of pottery. Perhaps even an antique we found during our travels across the country. No matter the room, we love finding the art you’ll love.

“Curating art is my #1 love.” Lucy’s Home Art Studio, an ode to children’s art.

In the end, it doesn’t matter if we’re bringing existing or newly acquired art into a space. We appreciate and love it all, and believe that without art in our lives, reality would indeed be much more difficult to bear.

The topic of our next blog? The loo! Don’t miss out on this one. It’s going to be fun!
